    What retired scholar can match the precision and grace of Ervin Beck's writing? While I consulted with CBS News in 1967 in the making of "Mennonites: The Peaceful Revolution," wrote reviews of John Ruth's work and "When they shall ask" and wrote the script for MCC's "Journey's of Hope," Ervin gave to me a wider view of the documentary film field and introduced me to people I have not met. His introductions to each issue of the Journal stand sturdy as art and documentation. Thanks.
