Submission Guidelines

The Journal of Mennonite Writing (CMW) publishes criticism, essays, and works of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. The emphasis is on work by writers from Mennonite contexts, or critics and authors interested in exploring themes in Mennonite literature. Many of our issues will be arranged thematically, although we will also read unsolicited material.

Submissions

Address inquiries to Editor at the email address cmw@goshen.edu along with a bio that includes your connection to Mennonite faith, culture, heritage, or identity. Work should be submitted as a Word attachment. Our issues are thematic, but we also accept unsolicited submissions of poetry, fiction, memoir, and critical essays. We are also interested in featuring work from writers' groups. Please introduce yourself in your email. We do not read submissions that come without an introduction.

Simultaneous submissions are permitted; however, confirmation of acceptance is regarded as a commitment to publication, and it is expected that the manuscript will not be later withdrawn for placement with another publication. Also, should a submission still pending be accepted elsewhere, the courtesy of immediate notification is expected. All rights remain with the author. Whenever possible, The Journal of Mennonite Writingwill attempt to respond to all submissions within two months of receiving the work. If you haven't heard from us after 2 months, feel free to query us about your submission by email at cmw@goshen.edu.
